Sheryl Menacker, MD

Assistant Professor, Pediatric Ophthalmology


Sheryl Menacker, MD, joined the Eye Center in January 2014 to launch an ophthalmic practice for individuals of all ages with disabilities and to instruct ophthalmology residents in this specialized field.

She earned her undergraduate degree maxima cum laude from LaSalle College, her medical degree cum laude at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, after which she joined the staff as a full-time attending physician.

Menacker joined Tri-County Eye Physicians & Surgeons in 1992. In addition to her full-time pediatric ophthalmology practice, from 1996 to 2019 she directed an eye care program at Woods Services, a residential facility in the Philadelphia area for individuals with disabilities.

She is a certified Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

Menacker is an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been active on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Eye Foundation. She also serves on several committees of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She holds a clinical appointment at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Emory University School of Medicine, and commutes to Atlanta for her teaching and clinical practice at the Emory Eye Center.
