Henry F. Edelhauser, PhD, Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Ophthalmic Research, Emory University School of Medicine, received a PhD from Michigan State University in 1966. He served on the faculty at the Medical College of Wisconsin (1966 - 1989) as an assistant, associate and then full professor. In 1989 he became the Ferst Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Ophthalmic Research at Emory University.
He has served as President of ARVO (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology), received the honor and senior achievement award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and in 1999 received the Castroviejo Medal and the Alcon Research Award. His research interests include surgical pharmacology, corneal physiology, drug delivery and ocular toxicology. Dr. Edelhauser presented a keynote lecture at the 55th Congress of Clinical Ophthalmology of Japan entitled “Cataract and Refractive Surgery: The Effect on the Corneal Endothelium.”
