Emory Eye Center’s mission is to conduct pioneering research into blinding eye diseases, to educate and train eye professionals and to provide excellence in patient care. Nowhere is this mission more apparent than in our interdisciplinary Ocular Oncology Service, whose members include Emory Eye Center Retina, Oculoplastics, Cornea and Clinical Eye Pathology specialists and scientists.
Retina specialists Chris Bergstrom, MD, OD, and G. Baker Hubbard, MD, treat all diseases of the retina and bring particular expertise to ocular tumors. Additionally, G. Baker Hubbard, MD, is a specialist in ocular tumors (retinoblastoma) of children.
Our clinician scientists investigate the biology, diagnosis and treatment of ocular malignancies, including melanoma and retinoblastoma, and apply the research to clinical care.
They initiate and participate in clinical trials for the diagnosis and treatment of eye cancers and meet monthly for an ocular oncology tumor board conference with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and ultrasonographers.
