Grossniklaus elected to Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis
February 19, 2013 | (Atlanta) Emory Eye Center ophthalmologist Hans E. Grossniklaus, MD, MBA, F. Phinizy Calhoun Jr. Professor of Ophthalmology and director, L.F. Montgomery Pathology Laboratory and of the section of Ocular Oncology and Pathology, was elected to the Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis (AOI), the most prestigious international ophthalmology organization, consisting of the world's top academic ophthalmologists. AOI is committed to excellence in teaching, research and service in worldwide ophthalmology.
Montgomery Lab passes new milestone
Oct. 26, 2012 | (ATLANTA) Emory Eye Center's L. F. Montgomery Lab, its pathology facility, passed a second monumental milestone recently, that of the impressive number of specimens it has processed and evaluated.
From its inception in 1941 through 1989, the Montgomery Lab saw some 15,000 cases. Between 1989 (at the arrival of lab director Hans Grossniklaus, MD, MBA) and 2004, the renowned lab had evaluated 30,000 cases. As of Nov.1, 2012, Grossniklaus had signed out 50,000 cases, making the cumulative figure from 1941 an impressive 65,000 cases.

Hans Grossniklaus, MD, MBA, F. Phinizy Calhoun Jr. Professor of Ophthalmology and director of the L.F. Montgomery Laboratory and the section of Ocular Oncology and Pathology, will again host the seminar.

September 19, 2011 | (ATLANTA) Emory Eye Center will host the second annual Southeastern Ocular Oncology/Pathology seminar (SEOP) on Friday, Sept. 30, at the Eye Center’s Calhoun Auditorium within the Learning Resources Center. The meeting will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The seminar is designed for primary care physicians, ophthalmologists and oncologists interested in increasing knowledge in identifying and treating ocular malignancies and how to apply this knowledge to clinical practice.

Emory Eye Center physician awarded senior scientific investigator award by RPB
(ATLANTA) Emory Eye Center’s Hans. E. Grossniklaus, MD, MBA, the F. Phinizy Calhoun Jr. Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the L.F. Montgomery Pathology Laboratory, has been granted a $75,000 Senior Scientific Investigator Award by Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB). RPB Senior Scientific Investigator Awards support nationally recognized senior scientists conducting eye research at medical institutions in the United States. Dr. Grossniklaus, an ophthalmologist and ocular pathologist, is one of 147 scientists at 55 institutions so honored since the award was established in 1987. Jan. 18, 2007
Emory Eye Center pathology lab passes milestone
Emory Eye Center's L. F. Montgomery Lab, its pathology facility, passed a monumental milestone recently. In the past 15 years of service (from 1989-2004), the lab's staff has evaluated some 30,000 specimens-an impressive volume-since from its inception in 1941 to 1989 (48 years) it saw 15,000 cases.
