Glaucoma Research

Glaucoma specialist Allen Beck is principal investigator in the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS), a nationwide study to determine when treatment for elevated eye pressure should be started. The trial showed that eye drops used to treat elevated pressure inside the eye can be effective in delaying the onset of glaucoma. Further, results from the 14 years of data collection have shown that treating people at higher risk for developing glaucoma may delay—and possibly prevent—the disease.
